Camp in the City
Camp in the City is a partnership between the Boys & Girls Clubs of East Texas and Pine Cove.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of East Texas exist to inspire and equip young people to reach their full potential. Pine Cove exists to be used by God to transform the lives of people for His purposes and His glory. Together, these two organizations will provide a phenomenal summer camp experience for your child(ren). Below you’ll see several frequently asked questions about the camp. FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions):
- Who can come to camp? Students currently in Kindergarten through 5th grade are eligible to come to camp. (During the Summer, a student who has completed 5th grade will still be considered a 5th grader, not a 6th grader.)
- Who will be supervising my child? Pine Cove staff members have gone through countless training hours to provide the best possible care for your child. There will be an 8:1 camper to staff ratio this summer. All staff members have been background tested.
- Do I need to pack a lunch for my child? No! Breakfast, lunch and a snack will be provided each day.
- What will my child do during the day? Activities include worship time, Bible studies, outdoor education, swimming, basketball, dodgeball, volleyball, floor hockey, broomball, club, and a whole lot more.
- Where is Camp in the City located? Camp will take place each day at the BGCET Main Campus at 504 W. 32nd St. in Tyler.
- What time does Camp open? Camp starts at 7:30am each day and lasts until 6:00pm at the Main Campus.
- The Main Campus is a long way from where I live/work, are there alternate drop-off locations? Yes. You can drop your child off each day at Cumberland Academy on Shiloh Road at 7:30am and pick him/her up there at 5:30pm. A BGC bus will transport your child each day.
- How many weeks can I sign my child up? Camp in the City is offered for 11 full weeks, starting June 4 and ending August 13. You can sign up for as many weeks as you like.
- What's the cost? $120 per week with a $10 deposit per child with a one-time $20 membership fee for non BGC members.
- Is there financial assistance? If so, how do I apply? Call 903-593-9211.
- My child takes medication; can you give it to him? Yes, a registered nurse will be here to administer medications.
- How do I sign up? Complete the attached application and fax it to 903-593-5012 or drop it off at the Main Campus.
